The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) is a worldwide professional organization dedicated to fostering a greater appreciation of trees and to promoting research, technology, and the professional practice of arboriculture. The I.S.A's mission is to educate and help the public acquire an understanding of the importance and value of proper tree care. The certification program was originally written by the Western Chapter of the I.S.A and is now over seen by the parent organization. Being involved with the I.S.A enables membership interaction toward increasing arboriculture awareness.
The Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture was formed in 1934. It is a nonprofit corporation comprised of over 3200 persons in Arizona, California, Hawaii and Nevada engaged or interested in the practice of arboriculture.

The Tree Care Industry Association formerly the National Arborist Association is our political watch dog. The association keeps owners of tree care companies aware of the legal and political requirements with in our industry.

The California Arborist Association was founded in 1934. Arborists from the east coast migrated to the Bay Area and formed the initial group. Men like Roger Sohner, Leslie Maine and Mallard Blair created an alliance of dedicated, professional tree workers. Today the association is there to upgrade the skills of the membership's by providing workshops in various aspects of arboriculture.
